Savar, Oct 21 – Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy on Saturday lauded the young entrepreneurs, who have come ahead from marginal societies to pave the way for country’s development, regarding them as “future leaders “.He came up with the remarks while distributing ‘Joy Bangla Youth Award’ to 10 youth organizations at Sheikh Hasina National Youth Center in Savar for their outstanding contributions to the development of the different regions in the country.
Pointing out the youth entrepreneurs, Joy, also a grandson of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said, “Many ask me who will lead the country in future. Today I find the future leaders in front of me.”
He said that the Young Bangla was founded aimed at spreading and accelerating the efforts and dreams of the young people who are working relentlessly in different ways for themselves and the country.
“I have found out these youths who are working for the nation. And I myself is inspired noticing the way they are working for the country,” he said.
He added: “I feel proud meeting with them, learning their stories. I get inspirations. These boys and girls are working on their own ways for the welfare of disabled people, establishing women rights and also curbing drugs.”
Citing the example of Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Joy said, “Malaysia managed to come to the current level of development as his party was in power for four consecutive terms.”
He compared the development activities carried out by Awami League government with BNP tenures, saying: “Awami League comes to power for development while BNP only wants power.”
Under the regime of BNP government, between 2001 and 2006, Bangladesh earned the notoriety of being failing state due to a spiral of corruption and the rise of militancy, Joy added.
“As a result, BNP government had pushed the country into the top list of Transparency International’s index. But our government has lifted up the nation to lower middle income one,” he said. – Agencies
