This week, Food Tank is participating in the Seeds & Chips Global Food Innovation Summit. A huge thanks to Marco Gualtieri, the founder and chair, and Sharon Cittone, the chief content officer at Seeds & Chips for putting together an amazing group of innovators, makers, do-ers, and thinkers to talk about food system change. Yesterday, I spoke on two panels. During my first panel, The Power of Women in Food and Agriculture, I was honored to share the stage with powerful women like Kerry Kennedy, President of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights; and Renske Lynde, Managing Director of Food System 6. We discussed the perils of ignoring women in the food system and how we must help female food heroes tackle global food security.
During my second panel, New World Ag, I was incredibly inspired by MARS Corporation innovator and sustainable agriculture expert Howard-Yana Shapiro, who is transforming the way corporations think about farmers and the future of agriculture.
Other panels will focus on future farmers and Millennial innovators, as well as food technology and solutions to global food waste.
Food Tank is also excited to partner with Apeel Sciences to host an exclusive event tonight at the restaurant Retana featuring a specially curated menu by Chef Cesare Battisti. An outstanding lineup of food leaders including Alice Delcourt, Chef at Erba Brusca; Nicolas Jammet, co-founder of Sweetgreen; Riana Lynn, CEO of Food Trace; and Haile Thomas, CEO of The HAPPY Org will join us for a lively discussion regarding food loss and food waste.
This is an incredible week meeting with influencers, innovators, producers, inventors, advocates, and story-tellers. Thanks again to Seeds & Chips for bringing so many different sides together!
