2 hacked dead over land in Munshiganj


Dhaka – Two men were hacked to death allegedly by their rivals at Kandipara in Tongibari upazila in Munshiganj on Saturday night over land-related dispute.The deceased were identified as Shah Alam Khan, 55, and Ali Hossain Sheikh, 50.Quoting family members, Md Eardaus, officer-in-charge of Tongibari Police Station, said that there had been a long-standing dispute between Shah Alam and Nasir Mollah Gong, who belonged to same clan, over land.Nasir Mollah along with his two brothers Rasel Mollah and Sohel Mollah attacked Shah Alam and Ali Hossain when they came to their yard from a local bazar at night.The three brothers hacked them indiscriminately, leaving them critically injured.Later, they fled away as the other family members rushed in hearing the cries of the injured.The injured were rushed to Munshiganj General Hospital where doctors declared Shah Alam dead. Ali Hossain was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.Rashida Begum, wife of Shah Alam filed a case with the police station.Police arrested four named accused Fazal Khan, 55, Tania Akhter Swarna, 27, Nadia Akhter, 25, Nayan Tara, 55, and Ayesha Begum, 18, as well as an unnamed accused.UNB news agency
