2 Hizbut Tahrir suspects placed on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) placed two suspected members of banned Islamist outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir Bangladesh on a two-day remand each for interrogation.
The two accused, Altamas Ahammed Babu and Syed Jane Alam were arrested from Dakhinkhan area of the city on Sunday evening. Magistrate Aminul Haque of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka placed them on remand on Monday afternoon.Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested the duo on Sunday. The detectives also recovered huge Jihadi leaflets and magazines from their possession.
In another drive, the law enforcers arrested four alleged criminals who used to identity themselves as relatives of IGP and other high officials to earn money by providing fake appointment letter from the city’s Mugda area in the afternoon. – Special Correspondent
