Two local leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were injured when a group of miscreants attacked them at Kashipur Bazar in Jhikargachha upazila of Jessore district on Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Aminur Rahman, 25, office secretary of Kashipur union unit of JCD and son of Abdul Jalil, a resident of Chanpatala village, and Mithun, 22, organising secretary of the same unit and son of Mashiar Rahman, a resident of Mirzapur village of the upazila.Witnesses said a group of miscreants led by Sabibur Rahman, son of Moslem Ali, a resident of Chanpatala village, swooped on Aminur and Mithun and opened fire while they were gossiping with some of the party men at a tea stall in the area at night.Later, they chopped Aminur and Mithun indiscriminately, leaving the duo critically injured.Hearing the sound of gunshots, locals rescued the duo and took them to Jessore 250-bed Hospital.Local people caught Sabibur along with a pistol after a hot chase while his associates managed to flee the scene.Later, he was handed over to police.Mosharaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station, confirmed the incident.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Benapole (Jessore)
