2 killed in 2 dists during nor’wester


Dhaka – A truck helper and a farmer were killed in two separate incidents during the nor’wester in Narsingdi and Chuadanga districts on Sunday night. In Narsingdi, truck helper Awlad Hossain, 25, hailing from of Habiganj district, was killed as a roadside billboard fell over him at Natun Bus Stand of the district town in the night. Officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station Golam Mostafa said the incident took place when a roadside billboard crushed through a truck during the nor’wester around 7:45pm, leaving the truck’s helper Awlad dead on the spot. Later, the body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy. In Chuadanga, Daud Hossain, 36, son of Hayat Ali of Chargharia village in Damurhuda upazila, received injuries as the roof of his house fell over him during the violent storm in the night. He was whisked off to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, said hospital sources. (UNB)
