2 to walk gallows for killing Saudi expatriate in Chandpur

Chandpur – A court here on Monday sentenced two people to death for killing a Saudi Arabia expatriate in Sadar upazila in 2013.
The condemned convicts are Shilpi Begum, 32, wife of the victim, Kalamtar Gazi, of Bishnapur village, and Kabir Gazi, son of Mokhlesur Rahman Gazi at the same village. UNB news agency reported
According to the prosecution, Kalamtar had a tiff with his wife Shilpi over her alleged extramarital affairs with Kabir.
On the night of July 7, 2013, Kabir and Shilpi stabbed Kalamtar to death and buried the body in the kitchen.
On July 10, Shipli lodged a general diary with Chandpur Model Police Station mentioning that her husband went missing.
Later, police arrested Kabir and Shilpi on suspicious only when they confessed to their crime.
On July 11, victim’s brother Liton Gazi filed a case with the police station in this regard.
Sub-inspector of the police station Manik, also investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet against the two accused to a court.
After examining witnesses and documents, Judge of the Additional District and Session Court Mamunur Rashid handed down the verdict.
