LAXMIPUR: At least 20 people, including five cops received bullet injuries during a gunfight between two groups centering the vote of a merchant association in Duttapara Bazar of the district on Monday night.
Locals and witnesses said a group of criminals fired bullets and came towards the center when the votes were being counted around 8pm.
Later, both the groups locked into a gunfight when the opposition fired back on the criminals, injuring 20 people including five cops.
Meanwhile, two motorcycles and a CNG-run auto rickshaw were torched during the incident.
Besides, police was deployed in Duttapara Bazar area as panic mounted amongst the people after the incident.
