2,000 evacuated after Dubai school fire

More than 2,000 students and teachers were evacuated after a fire broke out at a Dubai school earlier on the day.
Dubai Civil Defence said the fire started in a classroom air conditioning unit at Gulf National School in Al Garhoud at around 11:50am.

Firefighters arrived five minutes later and helped evacuate around 2,200 students and teachers. The blaze was under control by 12:40pm.
Units from Al Rashidiya, Port Saeed, Al Karama and Al Ras stations all responded to the blaze.
Officials said fire drill training at the school helped students and staff evacuate safely despite initial panicking by some individuals.
No injuries were reported.
