2nd National Surfing begins in Cox’s Bazar Thursday

Dhaka  – The three-day Brac Chicken 2nd National Surfing Championship, organised by Bangladesh Surfing Association (BSA) begins Thursday at the Laboni point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach.A record 150 surfers from across the country will compete in three  categories of competitions-beginners, seniors and women’s. Seventy four surfers took part in the last year’s inaugural surfing championship in cox’s bazar. Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu MP will inaugurate the  three-day competition in the morning. Director of the meet’s sponsor Brac Chicken Towfique Ahmed, Deputy  Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar Ali Hossian are expected to present in the inaugural function to be chaired by BSA President Kazi Firoz Rashid MP.A 10-member Surfing the Nations (SNT) delegation from USA, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden and South Africa, led by trainer SNT chief Kate Amm, arrived in the capital two week back and moved to cox’s bazar to support and trained local surfers and the surf clubs to create surf culture in daily life of Bangladesh, partnering with local humanitarian efforts. The official training session of the fresh surfers already began on  April 12 in a shark and stone of cox’s bazar sea beach, a perfect   place of surfing. (UNB)
