Three Bangladeshi young women returned home from India on Wednesday, after languishing in a jail there for two and a half years.
Border Security Force (BSF) of India handed them over to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) at Benapole checkpost at night.The returnees hail from different areas of Dhaka, Narayanganj and Dinajpur districts.Jalal Hossain, subedar of ICP camp of Benapole check-post BGB, said three women had gone to India illegally in search of jobs two and a half years back.Indian police then arrested them from Kolkata and sent them to jail.Later, a decision was taken to send back them following a joint intervention by home ministries of the two countries.The victims were handed over to the members of a non-government organisation (NGO) ‘Justice and Care’ at night, said assistant sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station Matiar Rahman. -UNB, Benapole
