3 physicians for 3.5 lakh people of Moheshpur


Jhenidah – One may believe it or not, the Upazila health complex of at Moheshpur in Jhenidah have been running with three physicians against the 3.5 lakh people of the Upazila. Positions of 31 staffs including physicians are lying vacant in the health complex.As a result hundreds of patients from different areas of the upazila are deprived of medical services and facilities. They have to rush at the private clinics and hospitals for medical treatment.
A source related to upazila health complex said, ultra sonogram and X-ray machines remain inoperative for a long time. Further blood, urine and stool and other laboratory-based investigation are hampered for want of technologist in the 50-bed health complex.
The sources said, most of the physicians posted against the health complex were transferred elsewhere after a few months of the posting. Since then the sub assistant community medical officers (SACMO)s were deputed at the complex from various health sub centres.
Upazila health and family planning officer of Moheshpur Nasir Uddin when contacted said, he along with resident medical officer Mahbub Alam and medical officer Mefta have been managing the whole health complex for long.
The matter was informed to the authority long ago but without any positive result, UHFPO said. – A correspondent
