A court here on Saturday placed three more suspects on an 18-day remand in two separate cases filed in connection with the murder of a Debiganj Hindu priest.Senior Judicial Magistrate Marzia Khatun passed the order when Debiganj Police Station officer-in-charge Aiyub Ali produced the trio before the court with a 20-day remand prayer for each.
The court granted police 10 days to grill Alamgir Hossain, Ramzan Ali and Hares Ali in a cased filed for killing the Priest Jogeswar Dasadhikari while eight days in another case filed under the Explosive Substance Act.
Earlier on Friday, police arrested the trio, members of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), from different parts of Nilphamari and Panchagarh districts for their suspected link to the killing of the Hindu priest.
On February 21, unidentified miscreants slit the throat of Jogeswar Dasadhikari in front of Sri Sri Sonto Gaurio temple at Sonapota village in Debiganj upazila and fled the scene firing shots and exploding homemade bombs, injuring two devotees.
Six people have so far been arrested in connection with the killing.
On February 23, a court placed two other suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and a Shibir man, on a 15-day remand in connection with the killing.
