3 road crashes claim 5 lives in Comilla, Rajbari

Dhaka -Five people, including a woman, were killed in three separate road accidents in Comilla and Rajbari districts on Monday morning.In Comilla, a man and a woman were killed and three others injured as a truck knocked down an auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Syedpur area of Sadar upazila in the morning .One of the deceased was identified as Mamtaz Begum, 35, hailing from Burichong upazila,UNB News Agency Reported.
Mahabubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Maynamoti Highway Police Station, said the accident took place in the area when the
Dhaka-bound truck hit the auto-rickshaw in the morning, leaving two people dead on the spot and three others injured.Away in Rajbari, three people were killed and 10 others injured in two separate road accidents in Sadar and Pangsha upazilas in the
morning.Two people were killed as a truck slammed into a rickshaw van on the Rajbari-Kushtia highway at Baghmara village in Sadar upazila in the morning.The deceased were identified as Samad Bepari, 45, driver of the van,and Abdur Rahim, 65, its passenger and a resident of the village.The accident took place in the area around 6am when the Rajbari-bound truck from Barisal knocked down the van, leaving the two dead on the spot, said Mohammad Shahdat Hossain, officer-in-charge of Rajbari Highway Police.Police also seized the truck but its driver managed to flee.Besides, construction worker Lokman Sarder, 55, was killed and 10 other people were injured as a human hauler overturned on the road at Sonapur intersection in Pangsha upazila around 9am.The injured was admitted to Pangsha upazila health complex.
