300 RMCH interns sued over journo assault in Rajshahi

Two cases were filed against 300 interns of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in connection with Sunday’s attack on journalists. Officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station Khan Mohammad Erfan said President of Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association Rajshahi unit Asaduzzaman Asad filed a case against 150 interns with Rajpara Police Station on Monday midnight. Later, ATN News cameraman Mahfuzur Rahman Rubel filed another case against 150 interns on various charges, including attack and vandalism, also on Monday midnight. At least 10 local journalists were injured in an attack allegedly by intern doctors at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Sunday night as they had been there to cover the incident of a clash between doctors and relatives of a patient. Two schoolboys killed, 10 injured in Laxmipur clash
Two schoolboys were killed and another 10 people injured in a clash between two rival political groups at Chandraganj Bazar in Sadar upazila on Monday night. The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam Shimul, 14, a class VIII student of Pratapganj High School and Farhad Hossain, 16, a student of class X of the same school. Witnesses said the clash ensued between the ruling Awami League-backed Nasir group and BNP-backed Solaiman Uddin Jisan group, for establishing their supremacy in the locality. The clash occurred at about 10:30 pm following an altercation between the supporters of the two groups at Deopara village in Sadar upazila. During chase and counter-chase, both the groups exchanged several gunshots, killing Shimul on the spot and injuring 10 people including five with bullets. The injured were admitted to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital where Farhad succumbed to his injures at about 11:30 pm. Later, the Nasir group activists set fire to the houses of BNP leader Ali Karim and Tofael Ahmed of the locality. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
