35,000 more Rohingyas reach Cox’s Bazar: ISCG


Dhaka, Sept 27 – Some 35,000 more Rohingya refugees reached the makeshift camps in Cox’s Bazar district in the last couple of days fleeing the persecution in the Rakhine state of Myanmar rising the cumulative arrival to 4,80,000 since fresh violence erupted there on August 25.Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) disclosed the new figure in a report published on Tuesday.
The newly arrived Rohingyas have taken places in the overcrowded makeshift camps, the report said.
Bangladeshi military has initiated road construction at the Kutupalong expansion site and has established bases in several locations.
Some 19,220 Rohingya refugees have already come under the government’s biometric registration programme while large crowds of people have been observed waiting to be registered till September 25, it added.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has announced to open a Teletalk telephone booth in all Rohingya settlements to provide communication. – UNB
