5 die in Rajshahi taking too much ‘liquor’


Dhaka-Five people including a woman, have died after taking ‘excessive liquor’ at the Sweeper Colony of Sardah Police Academy in Charghat upazila.The deceased were identified as Jahar Lal, 55, Godhuni Rani, 70, and Anil, 55, of the Sweeper Colony, Mahtab Uddin, 55, of Gorshahpur and Helal Uddin, 56, of Muktarpur.
Locals said Anil died at hospital while the rest on the spot after swallowing liquor.
Informed by locals, police went to the colony on Tuesday afternoon and recovered four bodies, said Nibaran Chandra Barman, officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station.
Enamul Haq, assistant sub-inspector of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital police camp, said Anil was taken to the hospital in the morning in an unconscious condition and he died at the hospital in the afternoon.
Doctors found the presence of liquor in his body, said hospital sources.
