51 shops, 3 houses gutted in 4 districts

At least 51 shops and three houses were gutted in separate incidents of fire in Dinajpur, Munshiganj, Sirajganj and Sylhet districts on Friday.   In Dinajpur, some 32 shops were burned down by a fire which broke out at Joynanda Bazar in Kaharole upazila in the early hours.   Fire service officials said the fire originated from a shop at about 3:30am and soon engulfed the adjacent ones.   On information, two firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals.   In Munshiganj, a fire burned down 10 shops at Adabari Bazar in Louhajang upazila in the wee small hours.   Locals said the fire erupted at from electrical short circuit at a shop in the bazaar and it soon spread to other ones.   Hearing the news of fire, local people rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after several hours of frantic efforts.   Louhajang Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khalequzzaman visited the spot.   In Sirajganj, a fire broke out at Nimgachhi Bazar in Raiganj upazila in thee afternoon, burning down nine business establishments.   Fire service officials said the fire erupted from an electrical short circuit at a shop in the bazaar at about 2pm and it spread engulfing other eight shops.   Being informed, one firefighting unit along with local people extinguished the blaze.   In Sylhet, a fire burned down three dwelling houses of two families at Putamara village in Companyganj upazila in the morning.   The fire originated from a stove at a house that damaged the three houses.         – UNB
