The identities of seven militants among the nine suspected ones, who were killed in Tuesday’s overnight operation at Kalyanpur, were confirmed on Wednesday evening.Their identities were confirmed after the fingerprint samples of their bodies matched with that of the corresponding NID cards, said Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The identified seven militants are Abdullah, Abu Hakim Nayeem, Tajul Haque Rashik, Aqifuzzaman Khan, Shehjad Rauf, Md Matiur Rahman, and Md Zubair Hossain.
According to NIDs, Abdullah, son of Md Shohrab Ali, hailed from Vallabpur village of Nababgonj in Dinajpur district, while Tajul Haque Rashik, son of Rabiul Haque, was a resident of Dhanmondi area in Dhaka city.
Another militant Shehjad Rauf alias Arko alias Morocco, 24, a US citizen and son of Towhid Rauf, was residing at a house at Road no-10 of Block-C in Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka, while Jubayer Hossain, son of Abdul Qaiyum and Ayera Begum, hailed from West Maizdi in Sudharam upazila of Noakhali district.
Militant Motiur Rahman, son of Nasir Uddin Sardar, hailed from Omarpur of Tala upazila in Satkhira district, while Arifuzzaman, son of Saifuzzaman, was a resident of road no-10 of Gulshan in the capital and Abu Hakim Nayeem, son of Nurul Islam, hailed from Koakata village of Kolapara upazila in Patuakhali district.
On Tuesday morning, detectives collected samples of the fingerprint of the nine slain militants and sent those to Election Commission office for fingerprint matching with their NIDs.
