A court here turned down on Monday the review petition filed against a court order that had rejected the naraji (no-confidence) petition against the chargesheet in a case filed in connection with the sensational seven murders.District and Sessions Judge Syed Enayet Hossain passed the order during a hearing on the petition.
Earlier on July 21, a review petition was filed against the court order which rejected the naraji (no-confidence) petition filed by Selina Islam Beauty, widow of Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, expressing her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the names of five FIR-enlisted accused from the charge-sheet.
Besides, Narayanganj Judicial Magistrate Ashique Imam rejected the bail petition of sacked camp commander Lt Col Tarek Syed of Rab-11 when his lawyers filed the petition for his bail.
Twenty-two arrested accused were produced before the court today.
Meanwhile, the case of Bijoy Pal, son-in-law of Adv Chandan Sarkar was sent to District and Sessions Judge Court today, said assistant public prosecutor Fazlur Rahman.
Shakhawat Hossain Khan, president of Narayanganj District Bar Association and Selina Islam Beauty, said, “We’ll submit an appeal to the Supreme Court and we hope the court will accept it.”
On July 8, the district court accepted the chargesheet rejecting the naraji (no-confidence) petition filed by Selina Islam Beauty.
Selina Islam on May 11 filed the naraji petition expressing her dissatisfaction over the exclusion of the names of five FIR-enlisted accused from the charge-sheet.
On April 8, detectives pressed charges against 35 people, including the three sacked Rab officials and Nur Hossain, now in an Indian jail, in connection with the seven murders.
After the murder of seven people, Selina Islam filed a case against six people while Adv Chandan Sarkar’s son-in-law filed another case.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted by miscreants from Fatullah area of Narayanganj.
Hours after their abduction, senior lawyer at District Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river.
