Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued eight people while being trafficked to India through Putkhali border in Sharsha upazila in Jessore district on Tuesday night.Sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station Firoz Khan said being tipped off that some Bangladeshis were being trafficked to India through the border, a team of the border force conducted a drive in the area and rescued the eight at about 10:00 pm.The human traffickers, however, fled the scene sensing the presence of the BGB troops, said the SI.The trafficking victims hail from different areas of Dhaka, Chittagong, Narail, Jessore, Narayanganj and Noakhali districts.Later, the rescued people were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.A case was filed in this connection. -UNB, Benapole
