9 JU teachers from Kamaluddin hall resigned

Nine teachers including the hall provost of AFM Kamaludin hall of Jahangirnagar University was resigned from the post of the dorms on Tuesday facing demonstration of the students of the dorms.All of them submitted their resignation paper with the university Vice-Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam around 1:00pm alleging ruling party student organization men to threat them and they was misbehaved by the students”.

The resigned teacher’s are—Provost Professor Nojibur Rahman, warden AHM Sadat and Khorshed Alam, residential teachers Fakrul Islam, Mijanur Rahman, assistant residential teachers Tajudin Sikder, Mozammal Hossain, Kazi  Rasel Uddin and Subrato Bonik.

“The ruling party students consecutively threaten us and give pressure to appoint their loyal person as chief chef to the dorms, even they obstruct us to do our duties and entering to the hall office, we are very insecure”, the resignation paper read.

Earlier, the students of dorms lead by ruling party student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League brought out protest procession demanding the resignation of hall provost on Monday night while they submitted a memorandum to the university VC on Tuesday.

The demonstrating students of this dorm said, “The hall provost failed to solves the problems of the dorms despite repeated demands of the students”.

“We have been facing severe accommodation crisis, low food quality and condition of wash rooms is too bad, we urged the authority to resolve those problems since a year but they didn’t pay any heed of our demands”.

Resigned hall provost Professor Nojibur Rahman said, “We already submitted our resignation, we don’t have any responsibility from now”.

However, JU Pro-VC Prof Abul Hossain urged the teachers to withdraw their resignation papers for the interest of general students and said they don’t reached any decision for their resignation whether it accept or not”.
