A Franco-German project to promote jute

Alliance Française de Dhaka, Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, in association with Otobi and Gold of Bengal are presenting a project that aims at promoting the use of jute in an innovative way; creating furniture using composite materials made from jute fibre and resin.It aims to increase the use of traditional jute fibre associated with innovative jute composite, under the guidance of French and German experts.The idea:Students of Architecture or Fine Arts, Artists, Architects under the maximum age limit of 35 years are invited to submit a design proposal within 29th of July deadline for a piece of furniture (seat, lower table,
shelve of less than overall 1 m3).After the evaluation, eight best entries will be selected and their designers will be invited for a one-week training under the guidance by a French/ German professional designer and technicians in Dhaka in order to work on a prototype to produce it with composite made of resin and jute fibre.Two teams will be formed to work on two different project; from design development to prototype production.The participants of this contest will have a chance to stimulate their creativity as well as acquire new technical skills.
