ACC wants public servants fined for failure to deliver

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has recommended introducing a provision of fining government servants in case of their failure to deliver in time.The national anti-graft body made the recommendation in its Annual Report-2015 submitted to President Abdul Hamid on Monday.ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood submitted the report to the President at Bangabhaban.

During the meeting, the ACC chief apprised the President of various aspects of the report and activities of the commission.President press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.The commission has put forward 32 recommendations in seven categories of the annual report. It recommended completing the work of land administration, land registration and land survey in a single office to reduce corruption in the sector.It also suggested arranging a mass hearing in every office to enhance accountability and transparency and bringing all government procurements under e-tender system.Iqbal Mahmood told Abdul Hamid that they have established 22,000 Satata Sanghas (integrity units) at school level across the country so that students can develop anti-graft mentality.The President expressed satisfaction over the ACC activities and asked them to make sure that the case and investigation process are based on information.He also laid emphasis on building public awareness against corruption.Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
