Dhaka – Touring Afghanistan U-19 side leveled the five-match Youth ODI series 1-1 beating hosts Bangladesh Under-19 side by five wickets in the 3rd ODI at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Under-19 team made the flying start in the series outplaying Afghanistan U-19 team by huge 145 runs in the opening match at the same venue.But the 2nd match between two teams was washed out due to rain at the same venue on Saturday with Bangladesh team scoring 182 for 9 in 43 overs before the match was abandoned.In the day’s 3rd ODI, Bangladesh Youth team opened the innings first after winning the toss and were bundled out cheaply for 75 runs in 30.4 overs with only two batsmen reaching the double figureNumber six batsman Mahidul Islam Ankon contributed the team highest 25 runs off 59 deliveries featuring three fours while captain cum opening batsman Saif Hasan scored run-a-ball 22, hitting one four and two sixes.Naveen-ul-Haque grabbed three Bangladesh wickets for 24 runs while Tariq Stanikzai took two for 10 runs.Chasing an easy target of 76 runs, the Afghan Youth team faced no trouble to reach their target scoring 81 runs for the loss of five wickets in 17.2 overs.Number five batsman Darwish Rasool hammered a polished 35 runs not out, off 36 balls featuring three fours and two sixes, number six batsman Nisan Wahdat scored 34 balls 15 runs with one six while two down Perwez Malikzai made 23-ball 9 runs with two fours.The touring Afghanistan team will play two remaining two Youth ODI matches against their Bangladesh counterpart on Oct 4 and 6 respectively at the same venue.UNB news agency
