BNP yesterday alleged that the ruling Awami League government is increasing the project costs in the name of country’s development for the sake of their own development.“The top brass of the AL government is developing themselves and counting money form commission in the name of development works,” said standing committee member Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah.
Addressing a discussion meeting, he cited the doubling the cost of Gazipur-Mymensingh four lane highway and four folds rise in Dhaka Chittagong four lane high way project.
Dhanershish, a pro-BNP platform, organised the meeting at Jatiya Press Club protesting filing of sedition cases against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and party’s senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Hannan Shah criticised the government for filing of “false cases” against opposition leaders and activists one after another, and cautioned that they would have to face consequence like an autocratic government.
“The consequences will not be good the way people are being harassed by the administration through implicating them in false cases,” he added.
He urged people to get united to oust the current regime and restore democracy and all basic right.
Presided over by Akbar Hossain Bhuiyan, president of the organisaiton, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by BNP leaders Nazimuddin Alam, Habibur Rahman Habib, Shahadat Hossain and Yunus Mridha.
