AL leader among 2 injured with bullets in Jessore


Two people, including a local Awami League leader, sustained bullet
wounds in a gun attack by some terrorists in the district town on
Sunday night.
The injured were identified as Nazrul Islam, president of ward no 1
unit of Awami League and Ripon, a shop employee and son of Akbar Ali
of Sosthitala area of the town.
Police and locals said a group of terrorists attacked Nazrul’s son
Akash and his friend near a water tank at city college Para while they
were returning home at night and beat them up indiscriminately.
When Nazrul, also president of ‘old motor tyre-tube traders’
association’ along with his associates went to the spot to rescue his
son the terrorists fired 25 to 30 rounds of bullet targeting them,
leaving Nazrul and shop employee Ripon injured with bullets.
The injured were admitted to Jessore 250-bed hospital.

Haque said the incident might have occurred following previous enmity
