AL MP’s cousin killed in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Oct 14, 2013 (BSS)-Aminul Islam Royal alias Makhon, 30, cousin of Abdul Wadud Dara, an MP of Bangladesh Awami League, was killed by miscreants at his resident at Biraldaha under Puthiya Upazila of the district in early hours today. Quoting family sources, police said Aminul, son of Fazar Ali Sheikh of the same area, was an assistant personal secretary of the ruling party lawmaker. Abu Obaida, officer-in-charge (OC) of Puthiya Police Station, said criminals slit Royal’s throat at a rented house near Biraldaha Mazar around 2.30am. He was immediately rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died around 5:30am, the OC said. The OC said the murder is being investigated with utmost importance. Jamela Begum, owner of the house, said they could not come out to help because the door was locked from outside. She said that they saw seven men were dragging Royal out of his house. They slashed his throat and then left the scene. Locals rushed to the scene and unlocked the door after hearing Jamela’s scream. Meanwhile, Dara termed the murder as a planned crime and blamed opposition BNP for the killing. MP Abdul Wadud said his cousin was an active member of his group. “He was in my house until 1:00am. I think people affiliated with the local BNP killed him for political vendetta.” Abu Sayem, Assistant Police Super (Headquarters), visited the site in the morning and talked to local people. He said the local police station has been asked to detect the killers and bring them to book immediately.
