AL’s blockade of Bandarban hill district to find abducted worker


Dhaka – A daylong transport blockade, enforced by the district unit of ruling Awami League party and its associate bodies demanding immediate release of an abducted party leader, is on amid huge outrage, Unb news agency reported.Local leaders and activists of Awami League blocked important roads by placing trunks of trees.
No vehicular movement was seen anywhere in the district nor was reported any major violence till filing this report at 10:30am on Wednesday.
No long-route bus was seen to leave the district in the morning.
On Monday night, a gang of armed terrorists abducted Mongpru Marma, joint convener of the Bandarban upazila unit Awami League, from Jamchhari Para area in Sadar upazila.
Following the incident, daughter-in-law of Mongpru filed a case with Bandarban Police Station in this connection.
The district AL threatened to go for a strike if Mongpru was not released by Wednesday.
