Amu questions Zia’s status as freedom fighter

Dhaka: Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Saturday questioned Ziaur Rahman’s status as a freedom fighter because of his role in making war criminals Shah Azizur Rahman and Abdul Alim ministers after the assassination of Banghabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“The political entente between BNP and Jamaat is also a continuity of the activities of Zia,” he said. UNB News Agency Reported.

The minister was speaking at a programme organised by Awami League’s Dhaka 10 constituency unit at Dhanmondi, marking the National Mourning Day.
“We shouldn’t maintain any relation with the anti-liberation forces …there’s no scope of talks of or doing politics with them,” said Amu adding, “Militancy and anti-liberation forces will be eradicated by uniting people.”
Awami-League joint general secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Food Minister Quamrul Islam also spoke at the programme.
Local MP Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh presided over the programme.
