The government on Wednesday appointed Anupam Kher as chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune.
Anupam Kher will replace Gajendra Chauhan, whose turbulent tenure ended in March this year.
Chauhan’s appointment was met with strident opposition from students, faculty and many in the film fraternity. It led to a 139-day strike and forced Chauhan to delay his taking over.
Anupam Kher is a recipient of two National Awards and is married to actress Kirron Kher, a BJP MP, reports Times of India.
