Dhaka – Kalabagan Krira Chakra relegated from the 12-team the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League to the 1st Division Cricket League for the next session.
The relegated team conceded a six-wicket defeat against Agrani Bank Cricket Club in the 1st match of the bottom three-team, after the 1st phase of the meet, relegation league battle at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground 4 in Savar on Thursday.
Kalabagan collected four points from 12 games with three wins and 10 defeats to remain in the bottom spot Agrani Bank skipped the relegation with one match to spare, collecting 10 points from 12 outings with five wins and seven losses.
Agrani Bank will play a dead-rubber game against another survivor from relegation Brothers Union at the same on April 4 while Kalabagan will play another dead-rubber against the same side at BKSP Ground 4 on April 1.
Replying to 246 runs in the day’s match, Agrani Bank shored their win scoring 250 for 4 in 45.5 overs spurred with skipper Shahriar Nafees knocked 109 off 142 balls, including 13 boundaries and two sixes.
Following a partnership of 45 in 6.3 overs in the opening stand with Soumya Sarkar, man of the match Nafees shared another partnership innings of 172 off 34.1 overs with Salman Hossain in the 2nd wicket before he was caught by Mahmudul Hasan off Mohammad Ashraful on 217/2 in 40.4 overs.
Salman Hossain was caught by Jaimul Hasan off Nahid Hasan on 231/3 in 43.5 overs after scoring 83 off 93 balls with 11 boundaries while Soumya added 24 runs.
Mohammad Ashraful (2/38) and Nahid Hasan (2/52) equally shared four wickets for the losing side.
Batting first after winning the toss, Kalabagan scored 246 for 5 in 50 overs where former skipper of national side Mohammad Ashraful hit unbeaten century of 103* off 137 balls, including eight boundaries and two boundaries, for his back to back century as he earlier hit 127 against Mohammedan Sporting Club.
With the day’s marvelous innings Ashraful completed four centuries in 12 games in this edition to be the most century hitter in an edition in the List ‘A’ cricket of Bangladesh. He hit total of nine centuries in List ‘A’ cricket.
Taibur Rahman (82 off 93b; 10×4) was another big hitter, who shared 136 off 29.1 overs with Ashraful in the 4th wicket, before being caught by Shafiul Islam off Soumya Sarkar on 199/4 in 42.2 overs. Riyazul Huda added 27* in the innings to be another double digit scorers for the side.
Soumya Sarkar got two wickets for 46 runs while Abdur Razzak (1/24), Shafiul Islam (1/44) and Al-Amin Hossain (1/47) shared three wickets for the winners.UNB
