Asian Indoor Chess: Bangladesh men’s team finish 6th in Rapid Chess


Dhaka – Bangladesh men’s team finished 6th in the team event of Rapid Chess in the 5th Asian Indoor And Martial Games’2017 held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on Tuesday.Bangladesh men’s team earned six points from five matches with two win, two draw and one loss.In the 5th and last round on Tuesday, Bangladesh drew 1-1 with Uzbekistan. GM Enamul Hossain Razib drew with GM Vakhidov Jakhongir while GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib drew with FM Begmuratov Alisher of Uzbekistan.After the day’s 5th round, China, Vietnam and Turkmenistan secured seven points each while Qatar bagged 6.5 points to qualify for the semi-finals.Turkmenistan and Qatar got bronze medals after losing the semi-finals. China and Vietnam will play final for gold and silver medal.Bangladesh women’s team finished 12th with 4 points after making 1-1 draw with Turkmenistan in the last round.In last round, WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat WGM Geldiyeva Mahri of Turkmenistan and WIM Shamima Akter Liza lost to WFM Hallaeva Bahar of Turkmenistan.
Vietnam and India got bronze medals in Rapid chess for the women’s. Indonesian and China will play final for the gold and silver medal.A total of 18 teams took part in the men’s section while 12 teams took part in the women’s section.UNB news agency
