Bikalpadhara President Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has extended his party support to opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s alternative proposal to form a neutral government to conduct the forthcoming general elections.
“I agree with the formula of the caretaker government and extend my support to it,” he said in a statement issued on Monday.
The former President said the proposal should be accepted as positive one for the sake of holding a neutral election.
He termed the proposal of opposition leader to form the poll-time government led by a respected person and comprising 10 ex-advisers from the 1996 and 2001 caretaker governments as a balanced and neutral.
The Bikalpadhara leader however suggested that the proposed formula should not be permanent one and only the forthcoming election should be held under this government.
In this regard, he said the Bikalpadhara would disclose a permanent formula within few days to hold polls in the future.
B Chowdhury said it was her (Khaleda’s) political liberalism and faith in multiparty democracy that she admitted her past mistakes and pledged to run the country in future in association with all political parties.
“It is good for nation. I wish her a safe journey,” he added.
