Dhaka – The Bangabandhu Asian Senior Men’s Central Zone International Volleyball Championship’2108 begins on Saturday (April 21) at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in the capital.Defending champions Bangladesh will play Nepal in the opening match on Saturday.Six countries, split into two groups, will initially compete in the week long meet.Participating countries are:
Group A – the Maldives, Nepal and hosts Bangladesh
Group B – Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan
A strong Organizing Committee for the Tournament was formed with Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed MP as chairman.
President of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) Mohammad Atiqul Islam disclosed the details of the tournament at a press conference at the Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Thursday.
BVF Vice President AH Aslam Sunnay, general secretary Ashiqur Rahman Miku, Technical Delegate of Asian Volleyball Confederation Masud Yeasdan and FBCCI Director Rashedul Hasan Ronny were also present on the occasion.UNB
