Bangladesh all out for 265 runs against Afghanistan


Dhaka -Tamim and Mahmudullah, with their brilliant innings score 80 and 62 runs respectively, spurred hosts Bangladesh to score 265 for all in 50 overs against Afghanistan in their 1st match of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday,UNB news agency reported.

Besides his individual performance, Tamim contributed lucrative figures of 79 in 17 overs and 83 in 17.2 overs in the in the 3rd and 2nd wicket stands respectively with World Cup hero Mahmudullah and Imrul Kayes.Tamim’s dashing innings witnessed nine boundaries off 98 balls, before he was caught by ODI debutant Naveen-ul-Haq off a Mirwais Ashraf’s delivery 163/3 in 35.1 overs. Mirwais Ashraf delivered to Tamim who slapped the ball over the long-off area by the toe-end of the bat, but ODI debutant Naveen-ul-Haq was there to manage him by a catch in the end.Repairing the early damage, the 2nd wicket pair of Tamim- Kayes ended up at 84 for 2 in 18.1 overs, starting from 1 for 1 in 5-ball, as Kayes was bowled out by the visitors’ all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. Imrul scored 37 off 53 balls including six boundaries.The 3rd pair between Tamim and Mahmudullah carried the team total to 163/3 in 35.1 overs before Tamim’s dismissal.Mahmudullah faced 74 balls to feature five boundaries and two sixes before being caught by Mirwais Ashraf off a Mohammad Nabi’s bowling at 203/4 in 40.4 overs.All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan who was another notable scorer for the side, fell short of two runs to make a 50 as he was caught by Najibullah Zadran off a Dawlat Zadran bowling, leaving team total at 246/7 in 47.3 overs. Shakib faced 40 balls to fire four boundaries.Number nine Taijul Islam added 11 runs while no other batters of Bangladesh could manage to reach the double figure score.Opening bat after winning the toss, in the1st match of their first-ever bilateral series, Bangladesh faced early jolt losing their opening batsman Soumya Sarkar, who was sent off with duck in the innings 5th delivery when the team collection was only one. Soumya was caught by Shabir Noori off a Dawlat Zadran bowling.Bangladesh lost their last four wickets — Shakib Al Hasan, skipper Mashrafe Mortaza,Taskin Ahmed and Taijul Islam — for 19 runs within a span of 15 balls.Afghan pace bowler Dawlat Zadran successful bagging four wickets for 73 runs while Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi bagged two wickets for 40 and 37 runs respectively, all delivered 10 over apiece.  Naveen-ul-Haq and Mirwais Ashraf took one wicket each.The ROCKET Bangladesh vs Afghanistan ODI Series 1st match at SBNCS got an extra glamour when the crowed-packed audiences in the gallery showed decent support to their favourite sides weaving their mobile phone hand-sets with twinkling lights.
