Bangladesh Financial Intel seeks Dr Yunus’ bank Ac. details

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) on Thursday (January 20) sought banks account details from Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus for the last two years.

The BFIU asked banks on January 20 to provide the accounts and transaction details of Dr Yunus, pioneer of micro-credit and founder of the Grameen Bank within three working days.

The BFIU did not mention any specific reason for seeking the details.

Dr Younus was the Managing Director of Grameen Bank since its inception in 1983. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 jointly with Grameen Bank.

However, the government removed him from the post of MD in 2011 due to his retirement age. – Special Correspondent
