Tagore singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya will be felicitated by the government of West Bengal, India. The celebrity singer will be honoured with the “Bangabibhushan” and “Bangabhushan” titles. The chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee will confer the honours herself on May 20 at the Nazrul Manch in Kolkata. Bannya learned of the news on May 11 through an invitation sent by the West Bengal Government. The honours will be worth one lac rupee, a crest and honourary cloak.

Bannya thinks that it is pleasing to receive any sort of awards or titles for one’s contributions. Receiving an award from the West Bengal government and that too from the chief minister herself is indeed heart-lifting, Bannya comments.

The “Bangabibhushan” and “Bangabhushan” titles have been conferred by the West Bengal Government since 2012.
