Dhaka – A brilliant century by Mominul Haque enabled 1slami Bank East Zone to score a comfortable 340 for 5 in 83 overs in the first innings against Prime Bank South Zone on the first day of the four-day first class cricket of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Tuesday.After the departure of five top order batsmen–Yasir Ali (33), Imtiaz Hossain (33), Liton Kumar 20, Aloke Kapali (19) and Mohammad Ashraful (13) — for 227 runs in 57 overs, Monimul Haque pairing of Zakir Hossain contributed unbeaten 123 runs in the 6th wicket stand to carry team total to 340 runs from 227.Mominul Haque was in batting with 169 runs off 207 balls featuring 18 fours and two sixes while Zakir Hossain remained in the crease with 47 off 79 balls with two fours and one six.Saqialn Sajib and Abdur Razzak grabbed two wickets each conceding 64 and 108 runs respectively while Soumya Sarkar took one for 31 runs.Sent into bat first in the day’s other league match, Walton Central Zone were bundled out cheaply for 188 runs in 56 overs against BCB North Zone in the first innings on the first day of the four-day first class cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.Lower order batsman Ifran Sukkur scored the team highest not out 57 runs off 55 balls hitting seven fours and two sixes, tail-ender batsman cum national pacer Taskin Ahmed contributed 36-ball 34 runs while one down Mehrab Hossain Junior made 27 runs off 96 balls with the help of four boundaries.Ariful Haque was the most successful among BCB North Zone bowlers grabbing four wickets for 55 runs while Shafiul Islam and Shubashis Roy took two wickets each conceding 39 and 27 runs respectively.In Reply, BCB North Zone opened the first innings in the afternoon scored 93 for no loss in 26 overs with Mizanur Rahman and Nazmul Hossain were in batting with 49 and 42 runs respectively.
