Zimbabwe batting consultant Marvan Atapattu believes Bangladesh are at the top of their game at the moment.Over the span of both his playing and coaching careers, Atapattu has spent a considerable amount of time in Bangladesh. The former Sri Lankan batsman was also the coach of Chittagong Vikings in last year’s Bangladesh Premier League.Bangladesh beat the Africans by four wickets in the first match in Khulna on Friday.”It’s a challenge because we are playing against a very good side, who are at the top of their game,” Atapattu said on Saturday.”[Bangladesh players] believe that they can win games from any situation and I think that’s the major change that I’ve seen, touring this country since ’89 when I was an under-19.
“Well I mean, every team goes through different phases. I think, at the moment, Bangladesh are in peak form. They have won against major countries in Bangladesh. They are playing as a team.”Atapattu, who stepped down as Sri Lanka’s coach last September, will be with Zimbabwe as their batting consultant until the conclusion of the Twenty20 series against Bangladesh.”I will be here with these guys till the end of this series and try to work with Dav (Whatmore), whom I know for years and help them tactically and technically in the coming days.”
