BD govt to be able to strongly deal with secret killings: India

Dhaka-Amid growing secret killings, an Indian diplomat on Friday said Bangladesh government, especially Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will be able to ‘bring back stability’ in the country curbing such covert killings with an iron hand.“At present, there’re attempts to create instability in the country through serial covert killings,” said Rajesh Uike, first secretary (political and information) at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, expressing his optimism about an end this menace.
The Indian diplomat, while speaking at an opinion-exchange meeting with the Hindu community in Galachipa upazila of the district, said the panic that exists among minorities will soon be removed.
Four people, including a senior police officer’s wife and members of the Hindu community have been killed this month in similar attacks by suspected militants.
Referring to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Dhaka visit, Rajesh said the Indian Prime Minister made it clear that India wants to move ahead with Bangladesh.
He said the current government in Bangladesh has achieved enormous successes in various areas, including infrastructure development, education and poverty alleviation. “These achievements will have to be taken forward further.”
The Indian diplomat later visited under-construction temples at Golachipa central Kalibari ground.
Kalibari governing body president Sunil Krishna Kundu presided over the meeting, addressed by minority leaders.
Rajesh Uike will visit Payra seaport on Saturday.
