BD to start AFC U-16 women’s qualifier Sept 17


Dhaka – Hosts Bangladesh will start their campaign in the qualifying round of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship taking on Bahrain in a Group F match on September 17 next.
Bangladesh, which were placed in Group F of the Asian women’s meet as top seed alongside Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Lebanon, will play Lebanon on September 19, the UAE on September 21 and Vietnam of September 23 in the other group engagements.
Out of 47 AFC member countries, 33 are participating in the competition with North Korea, South Korea and Japan automatically qualifying for the final round of the tournament in Thailand as three top teams of the 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship.
A total of 30 teams, split into five-team six groups, will play in the qualifying round.
