BGB seized Indian clothes worth 1.7 crore


Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian clothes worth around Tk 1.7 crore from Kolaroa frontier of Satkhiras district on early Thursday.
The also seized a truck carrying the contraband Indian cloths.Sources at the BGB headquarters here said based on secret information a special patrol team of 38 BGB battalion led by Havilder Md Habibullah challenged a Indian contraband clothes laden truck at Kazi Hat area of Kolaroa upazila at around 3:00 am, said information of officer of BGB headquarters Mohsin Reza.
Sensing presence of the paramilitary force, the driver tried to drive away but the law enforcers chased it and detained it after 3-4 kms off the Kazi Hat. However, the driver and its helper managed to escape arrest, he said.
The seized Indian cloths included 2,740 pieces Sharees and 3,200 meter long cloths.
The sezed cloths were deposited to local customs office.
