Biman won’t be responsible for Hajj pilgrims who miss flights

Dhaka-Biman Bangladesh Airlines authority will not take any responsibility if any hajj pilgrims failed to fly to perform hajj at their scheduled flight.
It is alleged that many hajj agencies are not sending their passengers to scheduled flight to get financial benefit—as a result the Biman authority has cancelled its nine scheduled flight.The Biman authority asked the concerned hajj agents to submit passport and visa of hajj pilgrims within 48 hours before the Biman office.
Bangladesh Hajj office has already distributed 64,000 visas among the pilgrims. Of them, only 30,000 pilgrims have gone to Saudi Arabia to perform hajj.
“We have already allotted advance seats to pilgrims as per Hajj agent demands. But the agency owners are not sending their passengers despite getting visas. As a result, we have to cancel nine scheduled hajj flights,” acting general manager (sales) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Syed Ahsan Hossain Kazi told The Independent yesterday.
He also asked the hajj agents to submit passports and visas of hajj pilgrims within 48 hours the Biman office otherwise the Biman authority won’t be responsible if any pilgrims to fail aboard the schedule hajj flight.
“The concerned hajj agents will be responsible for their failure in sending hajj passengers at scheduled flight,” he added.
Meanwhile, president of the Bangladesh Pilgrims and Hajji Welfare Council Abdullah Al Naser expressed his concern over the canceling nine scheduled hajj flights.
He urged the all hajj agents to submit passports and visas before the Biman office immediately to avoid any unwanted situation in sending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Expressing his concern over Biman’s slot, he said, adding, “ if Biman fails to get slot permission—many agents will fail to send their hajj pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.”
A total of 101,778 Bangladeshi pilgrims to perform Hajj this year.-STAFF REPORTER
