BNP-AL armed clash in Bagerhat: More Than 300 BNP Leaders & Workers Sued

Following repeated clashes took place between BNP men and Awami Leaguers in Ku-Koramara village within Bisnupur Union under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila on Sunday and Monday two separate cases were registered with Bagerhat Model PS on the night of Monday by 2 Awami Leaguers against 343 BNP men including M.A. Salam, president of Bagerhat district unit of BNP and Ali Reza Babu Secretary General of the same BNP unit on the charge of attacking and beating Awami Leaguers. In this connection 4 persons were so far arrested by the police. In the face of police-raiding the male members of Ku-Koramar, Koramara, Dhingsipara and Bisnpu villages fled away from their houses. It is learnt from Ershadul Kabir Chowdhury,  Officer-n-charge of Bagerhat Model PS that Mizanur Rahman, son of one Keramat Shaikh of village Kuliadair under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila lodged a case with the PS on the night of Monday as a plaintiff against 159 persons mentioning the names of 109 persons including president  and Secretary General of Bagerhat district unit of BNP and unidentified 150 personsb more under the Law of Quick Judgment. The officer adds that Mukul Sardar, son of one Atiar Sardar of village Ku-Koramar lodged another
casewith the PS as a plaintiff against identified 54 persons and mentioning the name of one Omar Shaikh of the same village as the main accused and unidentified 30 more on the same charge. Some 4 BNP leader and workers who went to Bagerhat Court (premises) in order to appear before the court in connection with some cases were arrested by the police. They are Shah Alam (32) of village Jhalodanga, Nurul Islam (35) of village Mandra, Amiruzzaman Tuku (31) of village Bhasa and Dipu (30) of village Dhopakhali. M. A. the newsmen that Awami Leaguers Attacked and beat BNBP leaders and workers and also registered cases against BNP men in order to harass them. On the Other hand, BNP men who went to the court in connection with other cases were arrested by the police showing their involvement in the present cases. He strongly condemned all those harassing activities. It is mentionable here that armed clash was taken place repeatedly between the BNP men and Awami Leaguers in the village Ku-Koramara under Bagerhat Sadar Upazila from the night of Sunday to Monday till 10 am. During the time a number houses and business enterprises were ransacked and in some cases fire was set on houses. Gun fire was also exchanged between the two parties. Some 30 persons of both the sides were injured in the clash.
