Chittagong- Mentioning that BNP is suffering from political bankruptcy, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Saturday said the party had been looking towards the US elections to return to power.
Obaidul Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, came up the remarks while speaking at a mass reception at Lal Dighi Maidan in the port city accorded to the AL leaders who have been accommodated in the party’s new working committee. UNB news agency reported
He said BNP had been waiting for the win of a particular presidential candidate in the US election and even they had expected before Narendra Modi’s victory that they would get a way when he would be in power in India, but all went in vain.
“The source of power of Awami League is the people of the country, not any foreign power,” he said.
As a scuffle took place between two factions of Chhatra League during the speech of Public Works Minister Engineering Mosharraf Hossain at the progamme Quader warned them saying,” None will be spared if anyone violates the party discipline.”
Presided over by Chittagong city unit AL president ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, the programme were, among others, attended by AL joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni.
