BNP leader Aslam secures bail in sedition case

Dhaka – The High Court Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday granted bail to BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury in a sedition case.The sedition case was filed against Aslam Chowdhury with Gulshan Police Station of the city on May 26 last year for allegedly hatching conspiracy with Israel's Likud Party and its intelligence agency Mossad to oust the incumbent government.
The bench of Justice Md Miftah Uddin Choudhury and Justice ANM Bashir Ullah granted the bail after hearing a petition filed by Alsam Chowdhury seeking bail in the case in the case.
Shanjid Siddique, lawyer for Aslam, told newsmen that now there is no legal bar for release of his client from the jail following the High Court order as the court earlier granted him bail in two other cases.
The High Court granted bail to Aslam on the ground that the case was filed following newspaper reports and police are yet to submit the charge sheet of the case to the subordinate court, the defence counsel added. – Special Correspondent
