BNP postponed their London rally

The UK unit of BNP has postponed its today’s London rally scheduled to be addressed by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia now staying there for treatment since September 16.It is likely to be held on November 2 in a larger hall with a capacity to accommodate three to four thousand people, according to sources in London.

“We have cancelled tomorrow’s (Tuesday) programme since the venue was small. We are now looking for a better and larger hall with a sitting capacity of three to four thousand people as party supporters from neighbouring countries are also expected to join it,” said president of the UK unit of BNP MA Malique.

Talking to this correspondent he said the venue that was chosen for today’s rally appeared to be smaller than the people expected to attend it. “We have decided at a meeting to postpone the rally, until we could find a bigger place larger enough to accommodate sufficient number of people,” he said.

Replying to a question, he rejected any possibility of cancellation of the public gathering where Khaleda Zia is expected to address as the chief guest.

“I can give you guaranty that the rally will not be cancelled. It may be held in the coming week,” he added.

“The UK BNP’s rally is likely to be held on November 2, according to a source closed to BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.

The source said, Khaleda Zia came to London only to meet all of her family members together after about eights years and treatment of her eyes and knees.

“Since it is her personal tour, she did not meet with any political leaders. She has been spending most of her times with family members,” the source added.

According to sources, the former premier is likely to return home on November 6 depending on her physicians’ advice.
