BNP stages countrywide lacklustre demonstration Monday

The countrywide demonstration programme of the BNP was largely ignored as the party leaders and activists did not response to it in the fear of police arrest.The party leaders and activists in some districts including Gazipur however brought out sudden processions in their respective areas.
The BNP on Sunday announced the programme of demonstration at district, thana and upazila levels across the country protesting the police denial to give permission to the party to hold its November 7 national revolution and solidarity day rally at Suhrawardy Udyan.
In Dhaka, party leaders and activists were not found to stage demonstration anywhere in the city.
Khilgaon thana president of BNP Yunus Mridha however claimed that the party brought sudden processions in some thana areas in the city including Khilgaon, Shahbagh, Khilgaon, Jatrabari, Kalabagan, Kamrangirchar and Kadamtoli.
He also claimed that at least seven party activists—three in Shampur and four in Kadamtoli were arrested while they tried to bring gout processions.
Asked why their processions in Dhaka were not come into notice of the people, he said they were last for three to five minutes.
He said Khilgaon BNP brought out a procession from Pallima Sangsad to Khidma Hospital.
The city BNP did not issue any press release over the programme till the report was filed at about 7:00pm.
Gazipur poura BNP brought out a procession led by Hannan Miah Hannu. The procession began from Shibbari and ended at bus stand after parading different roads.
The leaders demanded formation of the Election Commission in consultation with the all political parties.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday called upon the government to hold fresh elections in consultation with the all political parties before facing any mass explosion.
“The extend of heinous crimes like violence, killings and rap taking place in the country may led to mass explosion at anytime. So, we call upon the government hold the elections in discussion with the all political parties before a mass explosion,” he said while speaking at a discussion meeting at Institution of Engineers.
Jatiyatabadi Secchasebok Dal organized the meeting demanding immediate release of party joint secretary general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel.
