Dhaka – Ruling Awami League party’s joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Sunday said BNP is step by step moving towards the verge of collapse not towards the state power.
In response to a statement of BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu, AL leader Hanif came up with the comment while he addressing the biennial conference of Bangladesh Postmen and Postal Employees Union at the GPO auditorium in the city.On Friday, BNP vice chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu had said, “BNP is heading towards state power step by step. It’s the reality that BNP and 20-party alliance will form the government by next one year or one and a half years while Awami League and 14-party alliance will be there in the opposition bench [in parliament].”
“BNP needs not to dream to go to power anymore as the people will never vote them as they did wrong politics and killed the country’s people hurling petrol bombs during their three month long so-called anti-government movement in 2015,” Hanif said.
He said BNP leaders have been making such indiscriminate statements seeing the overall progress of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The AL leader also hoped that AL-led 14-party alliance would form government again through the 2019 general elections with the mandate of the country’s people as AL-government has been working relentlessly for the betterment of them (people).
About the next general elections, he said AL wants the next polls would hold with the participation of all political parties.
Hanif said the world leaders are honouring Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the country is progressing fast under her dynamic leadership.
AL Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Riaz, Bangladesh Post Office Director General Sushanto Kumar Mondol, Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud, Sramik League Executive President Fazlul Haque Mantu and General Secretary Sirajul Islam, among others, addressed the function. Bangladesh Postmen and Postal Employees Union President Nasir Ahmed was in the chair. – Staff Reporter
